Sick Puppy

Well it has been a crazy week for us because Sunday night Grady started showing symptoms of Kennel Cough. He is vaccinated against it (and in fact got his booster last Friday) but apparently it doesn't always prevent them from getting it completely. Kennel cough has been going around at the training school we have been taking him to but we didn't think anything of it since we keep him up to date on the vaccine. Boy were we wrong!!

The cough is almost as if he has something stuck in the back of his throat. It only happened a few times Sunday and Monday. Monday we decided to keep him out of class and just go and observe. By Tuesday he was a mess. Shawn scheduled a vet appointment for Wednesday because he was so worried about him (although its basically like a cold and generally passes on its own). With a vaporizer, some cough medicine, and some rest he seemed to be doing better yesterday morning so Shawn decided to hold off on the vet. By last night he wasn't coughing at all. Hopefully he is over the worst of it and is back to normal. I guess this is just practice for dealing with our future sick kids (but not for awhile!!)

Other than tending to Grady it has basically been life as normal. Shawn's parents were here last weekend. School and work is keeping us busy and this weekend should bring some time with friends, scrapbooking for me, and maybe snowboarding for Shawn.
